EXAMINATIONS AND FLIGHT TEST No Transport Canada examinations or flight tests are required. An applicant for a VFR Over the Top rating shall have reached the level of skill specified in the Flight Instructor Standard. PRIVILEGES OF RATING HOLDER The VFR OTT Rating allows a pilot to operate an aircraft in day VFR Over The Top conditions: before take-off = day VFR requirements; on route = 5000 feet between cloud layers; destination weather = scattered or clear sky, ground visibility 5 SM, forecast to be one hour before arrival and two hours after ETA. Fuel reserves should be one-hour minimum. Any VFR OTT flight from Chilliwack must be authorized by a Principal Air flight instructor due to local terrain. The training time required for a VFR OTT Rating can be applied towards obtaining a Commercial Pilot License - Aeroplane. |
